Daniel Alaei can handle a challenge. Known mainly for playing in cash games, Alaei got by some of the top players in poker to win the Omaha 8/b World Championship, Event 18, of the 2009 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. It was the second WSOP win for Alaei, who has now cashed 17 times.

Scott Clements, the owner of two World Series bracelets, was second, while Daniel Negreanu finished fourth.

Pat Pezzin was 15th, earning $31,632.
